- I was looking forward to getting this book based on the high ratings, to then be disappointed after reading though it. The few first pages are devoted to asking intake assessment questions of the client that you shouldn't need a workbook for if you are already in the field, or working at in agency. Some workbook activities do not have clear directions for how they are supposed to be used. Some activities are really just suggestions on what to do that you don't need a workbook to tell you. For example, one activity is make a collage of you goals and dreams, another page is completely devoted to telling you what the 12 Steps are. In my opinion, these are things that would already be common sense, or known at least if you are in this field. I was looking for a workbook that would enhance drug and alcohol discussion in a group therapy setting and I do not find this workbook to be helpful.
- This workbook is packed with solid usable information. I've used it and have found it a valuable professional tool. It's info is on point and well organized. Comes with forms and very usable material. It has taken tons of the guess work off my table so I can focus on helping my clients.
